The former UBIDS SRC president Iddrisu Hafiz had the honor of joining the delegation from the Students Representative Council (SRC) of the University of Business and Integrated Development Studies (UBIDS), Wa, to meet with the Rt. Hon. Speaker of Parliament of Ghana. This visit was made in my capacity as a former SRC President and an alumnus of the university.
We expressed our sincere gratitude to the Rt. Hon. Speaker for his unwavering support to Ghanaians, particularly the people of the Upper West Region and the University of Business and Integrated Development Studies.
During the meeting, we presented two key requests to his high office, both of which were graciously approved.
First, we requested the continuation of the construction of the Astro Turf at UBIDS, a project for which he cut the sod on August 27, 2024. The Rt. Hon. Speaker affirmed that the project is close to his heart and pledged to make every effort to ensure its completion.
Second, we sought his participation in the upcoming Leadership Summit at UBIDS, an event to be championed by the SRC. The Rt. Hon. Speaker made a profound statement, emphasizing his commitment to attend as a way of empowering and nurturing young leaders. He shared a valuable insight that leadership is not born but forged by as well as Leadership is not born but minted.
We eagerly anticipate welcoming him back to UBIDS.
In closing, the Rt. Hon. Speaker advised us to remain humble, respectful, hardworking, and sacrificial as young leaders.
The meeting was also attended by esteemed dignitaries, including the Clerk to Parliament, the Majority Chief Whip representing the Majority Leader, our own Lecturer and Professor Damasus Tuurosung, among other notable figures.
All in all, we graciously thank the Distinguished Rt. Hon. Speaker of the fourth Republic.
